Neil Atkinson has 24 years experience in the international energy industry. He joined Petroleos de Venezuela SA in 1979, specializing in the analysis of international oil markets. In 1998 he moved to Platts as head of energy analysis and consulting for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. In 2001, he moved to Oxford Institute for Energy Studies as business manager and in 2003 he joined Energy Intelligence in charge of ancillary publications and special reports. Mr. Atkinson is secretary of the British Institute for Energy Economics.

Ruba Husari interviewed Iraqi government and oil company officials and visited Iraq extensively over the last few months to prepare this special report. Ms. Husari has been covering the Middle East since 1987, first as Jerusalem-based correspondent for Agence France Presse, then as Jerusalem Bureau Chief for the London-based Pan-Arab newspaper Al Hayat until 1998. She also covered the Middle East for BBC radio and television between 1991 and 1998. She joined Energy Intelligence in 2000 as Middle East correspondent focusing on the Gulf region, with special focus on Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait and regularly interviews energy ministers and decision makers in oil producing countries.
